Auto dent repair is done using two different methods – paint restoration repair and paintless dent repair ( PDR ). The Paint restoration repair technique is used for treating large dents and it needs processes that involve pulling or pounding dents, grinding, chiseling, and sanding. Our dent repair technicians use common tools like pullers, drills, dent hammers, fender picks, and rivets for the work depending on the nature of damage.

There are times when the dent is large and it cannot be repaired using the Paint restoration repair technique or PDR. The only way of treating such dents is through removal of the entire panel. The panel can be removed through pulling and pounding and then later on welding to attach the new portion. Once the welding is done, primer is added on the repaired area to enhance further painting.

PDR or paintless auto dent repair on the other hand is one of the most popular processes for repairing smaller dents. In the pdr process, we remove the dents using specialized tools. We start from the outer edges so that the original factory finish paint remains as such and your cost of painting is also considerably reduced. Traffic problem is high on the Cardiff council’s agenda. One such idea is to introduce London style congestion charging. London ‘s mayor announced that cars that pollute more would have to pay up to 25 pounds. Such a charge in Cardiff is being reviewed in traffic and political circles. This would bring about difficulty to private businesses operating in and around the city centre.

This phenomenon has been observed in London , where there has been a significant drop in profits since congestion charging was introduced. Unfortunately a council spokes person said that Cardiff was committed to spending half a billion pounds on improving transport and that a new revenue source was essential hence the congestion charge.

As you drive in Cardiff every morning, it’s a complete logger jam on Newport road. Everyone seems to be coming to Cardiff from all sides and amazingly everyone seems to be going towards the city centre. All of them intend to park around the city centre. Try coming to Cardiff on a sunny weekend – its horrific. Amazingly it’s predicted a 3% annual rise in traffic coming to Cardiff . According to a survey, commuters spend half their time being stuck in traffic than actually driving.

The council has tightened its nozzle on traffic recently around the city centre. Many free parking has been converted to one hour limits and several 5 hour voucher parking limits converted to 2 hours. There has been an increase in hike at the toll bridge surpassing the 5 pound mark.

Taking into consideration that public transport is not cheap it’s not an option for many to hop on the bus every morning. Several sites have been acquired by the council to expand the park and ride schemes. Llanrumney and Coryton are two such sites were “park and rides” are being developed. Park and rides at County Hall, Companies House and Cardiff Bay are already serving weekend shoppers while the ones at Ocean Park and Leckwith for special events.

This is a good system but people have to be encouraged to park their cars outside the city. This will not only reduce traffic and congestion on major roads to Cardiff , it will keep heavy traffic away, keep essential traffic flowing and reduce pollution.

Car travel has brought huge benefits, but it has come at a cost to our quality of life, our health, our environment and local businesses.

People find it difficult to get to work, the shops and other facilities, particularly by public transport. There are too many accidents on Cardiff ‘s roads and many people suffer from transport-related health problems, such as asthma and obesity.

Our priorities for transport in Cardiff are:

Tackling traffic growth and congestion – traffic is forecast to grow by 7% – 10% over the next 5 years. This is higher than the average for Great Britain .
Safer roads – there were 1,634 road casualties in Cardiff in 2003, including 12 fatalities
Better air quality – transport pollution is seriously harming Cardiff’s air quality and people’s health
Improving access to jobs and services – 30% of households in Cardiff do not have access to a car
Better heath – 60% of men and 70% of women are so physically inactive that they risk obesity, diabetes, coronary heart disease or stroke

If we do nothing, the problems will only get worse. But together we can take steps to reduce congestion and make Cardiff healthier, safer and more accessible for everyone. There are some tough choices to be made. Encouraging motorists to car share or to switch from their cars to using public transport, walking or cycling for some journeys is the key to solving Cardiff ‘s transport problems.

Doing nothing is not an option. Given the long-term nature of transport planning we recognise that we must act now before it is too late.

Congestion is Cardiff ‘s No 1 transport problem. Cardiff has experienced a rapid growth in traffic that is causing gridlock in some parts of the city, holding up cars, buses and deliveries.

We are at a point where small changes in traffic cause major congestion problems, at junctions and on main roads into the city centre. Added to this, road traffic in Cardiff is predicted to carry on increasing at worrying levels meaning that getting around by car will only get harder in the future.

Many factors have contributed towards traffic growth in Cardiff including rises in travel demand, car ownership, numbers of drivers, economic activity and Cardiff ‘s rising population and visitor numbers. Reduced car occupancy and the increased spread of new development can also contribute to the problem. Car use has also increased as disposable income has risen against a background of a fall in the cost of motoring compared with rising costs of public transport.

The main cause of congestion is the choices people make about where and when they use their cars to travel. Other causes include lack of spare capacity on roads at junctions and interchanges and illegally parked vehicles blocking the highway.

Congestion is everyone’s problem. Growing traffic and congestion bring:

  •  delays and traffic jams that will spread over longer periods each day and onto more roads in Cardiff
  • slow, unreliable, late and frustrating journeys as all road users, including buses, get stuck in traffic
  • delays to emergency services vehicles, as vehicles get stuck in traffic and are unable to move freely
  •  threats to Cardiff’s businesses through the cost of lost time as people and deliveries are caught in traffic
  • more pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, harming people’s health and the environment
  • threats to road safety and quality of life, with more cars on the road, increasing noise from traffic and people ‘rat running’ through residential streets.

Cardiff is the capital city of Wales in the United Kingdom . The population of Cardiff is a little over 300000 and the currency in use is the pound sterling.

As a city, Cardiff really began with the Roman invasion in AD43. Indeed the city’s name derives from the Roman general Aulus Didius; ‘Caer Didi’ means ‘Fort of Didius’ and in time became Cardiff . In the eleventh century, the Normans marched on the city, and by Elizabethan times, Cardiff was a lawless town peopled by pirates and gangsters. By the beginning of the seventeenth century, the population had dwindled to a handful and the future of the city was bleak. However, the Industrial Revolution reinvigorated the city of Cardiff , and by start of the twentieth century, the city was thriving with the export of coal the main industry.

Modern day Cardiff is a buzzing city with plenty to interest the visitor whether it be sightseeing, shopping or socializing. Like the rest of the British Isles , the weather is not always the best, but in general the climate is temperate and not something that would prevent the visitor having a happy stay in the city.

The National Museum & Gallery, Cardiff is proud to house the best collection of Impressionist works outside of Paris , as well as a whole host of fascinating exhibits and is well worth a visit.

Cardiff Bay has recently undergone a makeover, and is now a hub of social activity with a range of attractions and leisure facilities along the waterfront. The Spirit of Cardiff visitor centre is situated at this location in a most unique building known locally as ‘The Tube’. It is worth a visit to Cardiff Bay just to see this structure in itself!

Shopping in Cardiff is an enjoyable experience, and a bit different with the combination of the usual high-street stores and also the many little arcades where an unusual bargain can often be picked up.

For a relatively small city, Cardiff is not short of bars and restaurants with 350 places to drink and over 250 eateries within the metropolitan area. A wide variety of ethnic cuisine is on offer in the city from Italian to Indian to Greek, but many visitors wish to sample the local dishes and the best way to find a restaurant specializing in Welsh food is to keep an eye out for the ‘hungry dragon’ sign which indicates that it is served.

The nightlife is good in Cardiff with everything from opera to pop usually going on a one of the many entertainment venues in the city. The Wales Millennium Centre is home to many of the international acts who stop off in the Welsh capital when they are on tour.

Whether its cultural heritage sites, family attractions or the dancefloor, Cardiff has something for everyone and is a great place to visit.

Alloy wheels can make quite an impact to the overall look of a car. Further, it can make a big difference to the functioning of the car.

Over the years, car manufacturers have taken a cue from the popularity of specialized alloy wheels and have opted to install modified alloy wheels for their stock cars. Alloy wheels are now a common factor in most cars but along with its growing popularity comes several concerns regarding its maintenance.

Alloy wheel repair

It is a common misconception that alloy wheel repair is almost next to impossible. Most people believe that it can be a complete waste of effort and money. However, alloy wheels can actually be repaired to a great extent. Alloy wheel repair is in fact a well studied operation. Many professional alloy wheel repair companies in places such as South Wales, Bridgend, Swansea, Cardiff and Newport can undertake the job perfectly.

Common alloy wheel problems

The most significant of damages that can affect an alloy wheel are radial runout, lateral runout and cracks. These damages will not only make the alloy wheel look ugly but it can also greatly affect the car’s driving performance. Let’s take a closer look!

Radial runout affects the balance of the tire across its diameter. This results in the tire moving up and down with respect to its central axis while rotating. Lateral runout is damage that affects the balance of the tire across its width. Lateral run out is often left undiagnosed as the tire can look true but balance testing will prove otherwise. In the case of lateral run out if there is significant damage it will often be irreparable. Cracks, depending on the location can be repaired but in certain extreme cases it is safer to get a replacement alloy wheel than to use one that has undergone alloy wheel repair.

Repair for non-forged wheels

Alloy wheel repair is often recommended for wheels that are non-forged. Forged alloy wheels are tougher and can also be more expensive. Most of the time, forged alloy wheel repair merely consists of having the wheel refinished. Two-piece and three-piece alloy wheels are also more prone to damage as the outer lips of the wheel are commonly made of softer alloy materials.

Alloy wheel repair- the right timing

The best time to plan for alloy wheel repair is during the warmer months. Normally, alloy wheel repair can take anywhere from three to five hours depending on the extent of the damage. If you want to minimize the damage, use high pressure especially when you are using low profile tires. However, it is important to make sure that the wear of the tire is still even.

Save money with alloy wheel repair

Alloy wheels are an expensive investment. Fortunately, alloy wheel repair companies offer you the option to get your wheels to look and function as good as new.
